The Shiva Purana is one of eighteen Purana genre of Sanskrit texts in Hinduism, and part of the Shaivism literature corpus. It primarily centers around the Hindu god Shiva and goddess Parvati, but references and reveres all gods. 
In the Monte Viot ground of Kurseong, Shiv mahapuran event has been organised for the first time in the town and is going on. Starting from the 31st of January it will end on 6th of February. 

 Hundreds of devotees of lord Shiva has been seen taking part in the event where the priests and groups delivers the shiva and parvati centered story to the devotees with bhajans and cheerings. Definately many of the devotees are enjoying the shiva mahapuran event in the cold chilling winters of Kurseong.

 The event is totally free for anyone and no one is charged even a single penny to go to event. Tea,snacks and prashad etc are distributed to the devotees as well as to passerbies.

This cheerful and warm attitude of local residents of Kurseong is amazing to see.

Kurseong is a small beautiful hill station and a sub-divisional town in Darjeeling district. Located at an altitude of over 4000 metres, it has many beautiful attraction points.
